Challenge

Our customer is one of India’s leading Fortune 500 companies. Since its inception in 1958, the company has been a trailblazer in the automotive and engineering industries. Known for its utilitarian low cost mass transport vehicles like vans, trucks and buses, and collaborations with global giants like BMW, Mercedes, and Rolls-Royce, the company has consistently expanded its footprint with new products, joint ventures, and innovative solutions. This aggressive growth had stretched its IT infrastructure to its limits, making a complete overhaul necessary to align with its ambitious digital transformation goals. In addition, the company’s existing IT systems were not equipped to handle its growing complexity. To address these challenges, the company initiated a large-scale IT transformation project, aiming to future-proof its infrastructure and boost analytics capabilities in line with Industry 4.0 standards.

The digital transformation program comprised IT infrastructure upgrade, SAP S/4 HANA migration for three landscapes, upgrade of Dealer Management System, and group-wide implementation Business Intelligence and HR systems. SAP sizing reports were used to analyze requirements, ensuring that the products chosen were compatible with both existing and new SAP deployments. Scalability was a critical consideration, as the company needed an architecture that could grow along with its operations.

Solution

After a detailed evaluation process, the company selected HPE and its long-standing channel partner, Unique Solutions, as its technology providers. HPE offered certified appliances and the scalability, reliability, and flexibility required to support its diverse and expanding business needs. In addition, HPE provided maximum protection of investments in existing products under support. Unique Solutions designed the complete infrastructure solution and deployed it. This helped the customer appreciate its capability and credentials in SuSE, RHEL, VMware, and backup solutions on complex infrastructure landscapes having HPE’s CS500, Synergy, 3PAR, and StoreOnce.

The company’s digital transformation began with an upgrade to its core IT infrastructure. HPE’s CS500 HANA appliances, Synergy composable infrastructure, and 3PAR and StoreOnce storage solutions formed the backbone of the new system. Additionally, HPE’s Serviceguard solution ensured high availability by continuously monitoring infrastructure health and automating failovers.

The company’s mission-critical Dealer Management System (DMS) was also upgraded using HPE Synergy and 3PAR storage. This eliminated performance bottlenecks and provided dealers with a superior user experience.

Outcome

The new IT infrastructure has set the stage for the company’s future growth. It supports a range of new applications, including S/4 HANA, SAP Fiori, an upgraded HR solution suite, and an advanced Business Intelligence platform. These applications are designed to deliver predictable performance, process improvements, and enhanced customer experiences.

The transformation has also paved the way for larger initiatives, such as a group-wide Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and a Manufacturing Execution System (MES). These projects will further align the company with global standards and enhance its competitiveness in the market.
